About Me

With my love for design, I aspire to innovate for community engagement.

Hi, I'm Reina!

Born in LA, grew up in Hong Kong, raised in Japan, I am a multi-disciplinary product designer based in Los Angeles. I graduated from the University of Southern California with a business analytics degree and I utilize my knowledge of business and graphic design, and provide extensive UX research to my design thinking process.

With 2.5 years of startup experience as a product designer such as, fashion tech, Web3, service, and entertainment, adapting to fast-paced environments has become my second nature, right after caffeine ☕️

Aside from work, I am a cat-mom who loves to game, illustrate, cook, and run in my free time. While I do product design work, I also do storyboarding and content creation on the side.

My Design Superpowers

01

Experiment and Adapt for Innovation

As a curious product designer, I am always looking for new and novel ways to experiment and create new advanced things. I soak in information quickly like a sponge, and able to adapt to new environments or designs which I successfully was able to do with my experience working at startups, where innovation flourishes. My ambition is to take the initiative to search for the latest trends in the user experience world and design my own unique approach to solutions.

02

Observe and Analyze

Observing people is my hobby (Not in a creepy way) I find it fascinating to find how different each individuals' styles, personalities, ambitions, and favorites are. This is relevant to why I love to illustrate portraits. As a product designer, collecting data and building an architectural design system are necessities behind my designs, while also considering the necessities of interactive and behavioral patterns to my designs as well. That way I am able to communicate and visualize for others to acknowledge the reasonings behind my designs.

03

Empathy with Storytelling

I am a product designer who holds the love for expression. While I like to express my thoughts and story into visualization, I also find joy in hearing other peoples' stories. I have always been a storyteller through my life, I've done storyboarding for film projects and I've done manga/comic illustrations. Without empathy, I could have not done these projects.
